Doggy Daycare

Yes, you read that correctly. Daycare for your dog. It's a real thing and it's almost as daunting as finding a daycare for your human children too! So I am stuck with this dog that my daughter HAD to have. Let's be honest, I love her to death, but she's still a puppy and wants to play all the time. She has so much energy and needs to have a way to exercise that energy. Before downsizing to a small condo, we had a huge backyard for her to frolic about and now she's stuck inside, unless she's on a leash and taken out for a walk. She's a "runner". Anyhow, I found a local puppy daycare that offers half day play time and it's pretty affordable. They required her to have an "interview" which involved me bringing her in for a few hours to see how she did and if she behaved. They also verified that she was up to date on all of her shots (including kennel cough). When I went in for her interview, the owner gave me a tour of the facility and showed me all of the puppy yards (inside and outside), as well as every other nook and cranny of the place. The dogs were separated into groups (size/temperament) and had humans who spent time in each play yard with the dogs. To say the least, I felt pretty comfortable leaving my dog there. Upon leaving, I was shown that each area has a camera and when you first walk into the facility, there are monitors that show every area. That's pretty cool. Above that, they have an online app where I can log on and watch my dog the entire time she is there. Why don't ALL daycares have this?? This place has more visibility than my daughter's daycare ever had. I'll be honest, I left the app open on my Kindle the whole time she was there and checked in on her often. I have a feeling that if this were available when my daughter was a baby, I would never have gotten any work done, because I would have been watching the monitor ALL day! Jace seemed to have an ok time, but most of the time she seemed to be sitting on or waiting to sit on a human's lap. It's new to her, so I think I'll give it a few more tries before I deem it a failure. The reason I want her to go, is to run out some of the energy. If it was a matter of her just cuddling up to someone, I am home all day, she can lay next to me and it doesn't cost anything extra. Times are a changing and as much as I know people hate having their privacy infringed upon, I think that in the case of daycares, human and animal, the constant video is a huge step in the right direction. You can't be too careful with your children's welfare. **Forgot to publish this during the week. :/ Left it in limbo..
